A 'prophet' of one of the white garment churches, was on
Tuesday remanded in prison by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos
State over the death of his friend.
Chief Magistrate, B.O. Ope-Agbe, ordered that the accused be
remanded in prison pending advice from the Office of the Lagos State Director
of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Olorunshola, a resident of No. 2, Peace Estate, Ikota,
Lagos, is facing a charge of murder.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the plea of
the accused was not taken.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Jimah Iseghede, had earlier told
the court that the offence was committed on November 13 at about 4:00 p.m. at
the above mentioned residence.
Iseghede said that the accused and the deceased, Taiwo
Olajide, 49, who were friends, had an argument and, in the process, the accused
picked up an iron and hit the deceased on the head with it.
He said that the accused had accommodated the deceased in
his room when the argument ensued.
"When the accused came in, he didn't like how he met
the deceased and his child and he reacted out of anger," Iseghede said.
He noted that the offence contravened Section 221 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 which prescribes life imprisonment for
anybody found guilty of murder.
The case was adjourned till February 11 pending legal advice
from the office of the Lagos State DPP.
